Practice makes perfect! Spend some time in training mode to get the timing down for breaking throws.
For generic throws, press 1 to counter, but for command throws, you need to press 1 or 2 based on the arm they use. Good luck!
In my experience, it's all about muscle memory. Play enough and you'll start breaking throws on instinct.
Honestly, just mash 1+2 whenever someone gets too close. Works most of the time!
