Crafting a drill in Terraria is like giving yourself a super-powerful mining arm! First things first, you need to defeat the Wall of Flesh to kickstart Hardmode because that's when the fun begins. After that, you'll need to mine some hardmode ores - Cobalt or Palladium, Mythril or Orichalcum, and Adamantite or Titanium, depending on your world. But here's the kicker, you can't just mine these with any old pickaxe. You'll need a Cobalt or Palladium Drill/Pickaxe for the Mythril or Orichalcum, and then a Mythril or Orichalcum Drill/Pickaxe for Adamantite or Titanium. Once you have the required ore, head to a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil to craft your drill. Each drill requires 18 bars of its respective ore. Happy drilling!

Just beat the Wall of Flesh, mine the right ores, and use a Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil. Easy peasy.

Honestly, drills are overrated. Stick to pickaxes; they don't block your view with that annoying drilling animation.
