Why complicate things? Get two Creepvine Samples, walk to your Fabricator, and craft that Fiber Mesh. Done!

Just cut two Creepvine Samples with your knife and process them at the Fabricator. Takes about two seconds!

First-hand tip: I struggled with this too! Just swim to some Creepvine, use your knife to get two samples, and turn them into Fiber Mesh at the Fabricator!

To craft Fiber Mesh in Subnautica, just grab two Creepvine Samples from those glow-y underwater Creepvine plants and hit up the Fabricator. Voila, fiber mesh!

All you need are two Creepvine Samples. Hack at some Creepvine with your knife, and then use the Fabricator to turn them into Fiber Mesh!
