Deleting chats is overrated. But if you must, just follow the previous instructions.
Just long-press the chat you want to delete, tap the trash bin icon, and confirm. Boom, it's gone!
I do this all the time! Open WhatsApp, find the chat, swipe left (iOS) or long-press (Android), tap 'Delete,' and confirm.
