Hold your fire button and release it when you want to detonate the grenade. Works like a charm!

It's all about those secondary fire keys! Most launchers with grenades have a secondary fire mode you can trigger by pressing the alt-fire button (default's usually the middle mouse button or secondary trigger on consoles). Happy exploding!
