To wall jump in Super Mario 64 DS, run towards a wall and jump at it. As soon as you make contact, press the jump button again to push off and gain height!
From my experience, the key is timing. Dash towards a wall, jump, then quickly press jump again when you hit the wall for that sweet wall jump.
