Beat The Sacrifice questline, then head to your Arsenal, find Excalibur Umbra and hit that Equip button. Done and done!

As soon as you complete The Sacrifice, Umbra will be yours. Equip him from your Arsenal. Bam, you're an Umbra master!

Just complete The Sacrifice quest and head to your Arsenal. You'll see Excalibur Umbra ready to be equipped. Simple as that.
