To catch a fish in Super Mario Odyssey, find Lakitu (the cloud guy with the fishing rod) in the Seaside Kingdom or Lake Kingdom. Capture him with Cappy, then cast your line near the fish and wait for a bite. Reel it in by pulling back on the left control stick!

Catching fish? Easy peasy. Capture Lakitu with Cappy and use his fishing rod. Then just wait for the fish to nibble.

Just take control of the fishing Lakitu you find in Lake Kingdom or Seaside Kingdom. Cast the line and wait for a bite. Reel it in gently.
