I had the same issue and switching to a 5GHz Wi-Fi network fixed it for me. Those older 2.4GHz networks can get crowded!

First, make sure your iOS device is up to date and close any background apps that might be hogging resources. If that doesn't help, try restarting your Wi-Fi router or switching to a more stable network.
