Try lowering your in-game graphics settings. Turn off shadows and lower the resolution. Worked wonders for me!

Check your internet connection. A wired connection is always better than Wi-Fi for gaming.

Sometimes Fortnite servers get overloaded. Those are the breaks. Try again later and see if the lag improves!

Try closing any background applications you don't need. Chrome with 152 tabs open? Yeah, that might be your problem.
