You can't actually fly. Best you can do is use gloves with special abilities that give you temporary air-time.
From my experience, the Adios glove is your best bet. It sends your opponents flying while you can take to the skies momentarily!
Use the Jet glove! It has a unique ability that literally lets you jetpack around the arena. Super fun and a great way to dodge slaps.
