To get a smelter in Valheim, you need to defeat the first boss, Eikthyr, to unlock the ability to craft a pickaxe. Use the pickaxe to mine copper and tin, then combine them to make bronze. Finally, gather 20 stone and 5 surtling cores from burial chambers to craft the smelter!

Piece of cake! Just crush Eikthyr, get those antlers, make a pickaxe, mine some copper and tin, and swipe 5 surtling cores. Easy peasy, right?

First, kill Eikthyr for the antlers to make a pickaxe. Then, mine copper and tin to make bronze. You'll need 20 stone and 5 surtling cores to build the smelter. Check burial chambers for those fiery cores!
