Deleting your account is a bit more involved. Go to settings, then 'Your Facebook Information,' and finally 'Deactivation and Deletion.'
Deactivate it if you're just taking a break, but delete it if you're done for good!
If you want a more permanent escape, you can deactivate or even delete your account from the settings.
Facebook is awesome. Why leave? Just my two cents.
