Literally just hit pause and click on 'Online'. It's like escaping jail, but in a game.

Been there, done that. Went from story mode to GTA Online and lemme tell ya, it's a whole new world. Expect craziness x100. Just pause, go to the menu, and select 'Online'. Easy peasy.
