You can also find slime by mining deep underground. Look for the green, gross-looking patches on the walls. They should give you slime when mined.
Honestly, just buy some slime from the in-game store if you're in a hurry. It's much easier that way.
I鈥檝e found that slimes appear more often in areas with lots of water around, especially in caves. Happy hunting!
