I got the Lunar Portal Staff on my third attempt at beating the Moon Lord. Key strategy? LOAD UP on healing potions and get the best gear possible. Mobility is your friend during this fight, so wings or a UFO mount can make a huge difference. Oh, and patience... lots of it.
