If you have some friends, gang up on the troll with one person tanking and the rest using ranged attacks. Make sure to dodge when it swings!
First-hand experience here! I always take advantage of the terrain. Lead the troll to narrow spaces or up steep hills where it's hard for them to follow, then pepper them with arrows from safety. Easy peasy!
