Easy peasy! Just tilt the card back and forth under a light source. If you see a shiny, reflective surface on the picture area (not the whole card, just where the Pokemon is), congrats, you've got yourself a holo! Also, check for a little 'H' or the word 'Holo' in the bottom corner of the card; sometimes they mark it.

I once bought a pack thinking they were all holos because the seller said so. Turns out, only one had that rainbow shimmer when I checked under the light. Lesson learned: the shine test never lies!

Don't overthink it. If it shines, it's a holo. No shine, no holo.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
