Lava fishing in Terraria is super cool but kinda tricky! First, you gotta get yourself a special fishing rod called the Hotline Fishing Hook. It's the only rod that lets you fish in lava without any issues. You can snag one from the Angler as a quest reward after completing 25 quests. Next up, use bait that can survive the heat. Hellbutterfly, Magma Snail, or Lavafly are your go-tos for this. Head to a lava lake and start fishing. Remember, the size of the lake matters for better loot!

Just use any bug net to catch some fireproof critters and a Hotline Fishing Hook. Easy.

Actually, you don't always need the Hotline Fishing Hook. If you're in Hardmode, you can use the Lavaproof Fishing Hook accessory or Lavaproof Bug Net to catch bait. These let you fish in lava with any fishing rod. Just throwing that out there for anyone who might not have snagged the Hotline Fishing Hook yet.
