To mine dungeon walls in Terraria, you need the Nightmare Pickaxe or a better one. These walls are tough, so lower tier pickaxes just bounce off them like rubber. Also, remember you can't mine the walls near the dungeon's entrance until you've defeated the Skeletron boss. Once he's out of the way, mine to your heart's content!

You can't mine dungeon walls right off the bat. First, beat Skeletron to unlock the ability, then get a Nightmare Pickaxe or better. The dungeon doesn鈥檛 give up its secrets easily!
Honestly, just use bombs. They get the job done and it's way more fun. Sure, a Nightmare Pickaxe works, but why mine when you can make things go BOOM?
