To move a chest in Stardew Valley on your Switch, first make sure it's empty. You can't move a chest if it has items in it. Once it's empty, just hit it with your axe or pickaxe, and it'll pop back into a little chest icon. Pick it up, and then you can place it wherever you like!

Just empty it and whack it with a tool. Easy peasy!

I tried moving a full chest once, thinking it was like other games where you can just drag and drop. Big mistake. Spent the next 10 minutes picking up my scattered belongings. Always empty your chests before moving them, folks.
