Ah, the old chest-moving dilemma. So, you can't actually move a chest if it's full. First, you gotta empty that bad boy out. Once it's empty, just whack it with your axe or pickaxe and it'll pop right back into your inventory, ready to be placed wherever you fancy.

Nope, can't do it. Gotta empty them first. Kinda wish you could just drag and drop, but that's not how Stardew rolls.
