Manually ejecting is the last resort. Just hold down the eject button for around 10 seconds, and the tray should open.

If the eject button isn't working, try turning off the console and turning it back on. That usually does the trick for me.

Unplug the power cable, wait a few minutes, plug it back in, and press the eject button. Sometimes it just needs a reboot.
