Just left-click or tap on the fence you wanna pick up if you're playing on PC or mobile. If you're on console, use the action button (usually 'A' or 'X' depending on your console). You gotta have an empty spot in your inventory though, or else you're just gonna be poking at it with no luck!

Actually, you don't pick them up, you demolish them. And then you craft new ones. It's all about that farm life upgrade!
