First off, you'll need to craft a Cultivator, which requires 5 Core Wood and 5 Bronze. Once you've got that bad boy, equip it, right-click to bring up the farming menu, and choose what you want to plant! Make sure to give your crops enough space to grow.

Get a Cultivator, till the ground, plant seeds, done. Try not to die.

Make sure you build a Cultivator first with Core Wood and Bronze. Then, equip it, till the soil, and plant away. Oh, and don't forget to keep an eye on your crops; they need some breathing room to thrive!

It's simple: get a Cultivator, till the soil, plant your seeds, and wait. Just DON'T forget to protect your crops from mobs or you'll have a bad time!
