In Super Mario Odyssey, hit '+' on your controller to open the menu, then select 'Two-Player'. One player controls Mario and the other controls Cappy. It's that easy!
Super Mario Odyssey's co-op mode is a blast! Open the menu with the '+' button, choose Two-Player mode, and one player will be Mario while the other gets to be Cappy.
