Just beat the Octo Expansion. After that, you can switch to Octolings in the player settings menu.

I finally unlocked Octolings last week! It took me about 20 hours to beat the Octo Expansion, but it was totally worth it. Now, my Inkling friends are jealous of my sweet Octo-style!
