Unfortunately, Paper.io 2 doesn’t have a feature for friend invites. What I do is hop onto the same WiFi network and start the game simultaneously. Sometimes it works, sometimes it’s just a hilarious mess!
Hot take: Paper.io 2 is better solo. No need for friends cluttering up the map; more space for you!
From experience, I've found syncing start times with friends has the best chance, though it's hit or miss. Or you can chat in-game and look for distinct usernames to find each other!
