First, both players need the same version of the game (including mods) on their PCs. Then, connect both PCs to the same local network. Start the game, go to Multiplayer, and choose LAN to host or join a battle!

Just make sure both machines are on the same Wi-Fi network, launch the game, and look for the LAN multiplayer option. Easy peasy!

I played Total War: Warhammer over LAN by first disabling our firewalls temporarily (don't forget to turn them back on!). Then, we found each other's games super quickly.
