First, make sure you're working in a well-lit area so you can see what you're doing. Look for small hooks or pegs on the launcher where the rubber band was originally attached. Stretch the rubber band gently to avoid snapping it and hook one end onto one peg. Then, stretch it across to the opposite side and hook it onto the second peg. If there's a path the rubber band needs to follow for the mechanism to work, make sure it's correctly routed. Sometimes, using a pair of tweezers can make this easier, especially if the hooks are small or hard to reach.

Honestly, I spent hours trying to figure this out once. Turns out, I was using the wrong size rubber band. Make sure it's the right size for your launcher or you'll be fighting a losing battle.
