If your controller isn't connecting, try syncing it again by pressing the sync button on both the console and the controller. Also, make sure there's no interference from other wireless devices.
Forget repairing it yourself. Just buy a new one. It's less hassle and saves you time.
In my experience, the best way to fix sticky buttons is to pop off the buttons and clean them with isopropyl alcohol. Be gentle with it!
