In GTA 5 Online, the game saves automatically after certain key activities, like finishing a mission or buying something. But if you wanna make extra sure, just change your outfit through the Interaction Menu. It forces a save to the Rockstar cloud.

Honestly, you don't even need to sweat it. GTA 5 Online autosaves so often, you'd have to try hard to lose progress. But yeah, changing outfits is the manual override.
