Firstly, ya gotta get yourself some copper ore and coal. Build or find a furnace (if you don't have one yet, you can craft it using 20 copper ore and 25 stone). Then, just pop one coal and five copper ores into the furnace, and voilà, you'll have a shiny copper bar in no time. Make sure you've got the furnace on your farm or in a spot where you can easily access it cuz you'll be doing this a lot.

Actually, I think finding the copper ore is the real challenge, not smelting it. Once you have the ore, the smelting part is easy peasy.

Just mine and burn, baby. Mine the ore, burn with coal. Boom, copper bar.

To smelt copper in Stardew Valley, it's super simple: Collect 5 copper ores and 1 piece of coal, throw them into a furnace, and wait a smidge. After a bit, you'll have yourself a copper bar ready to use for crafting or upgrades. Remember, smelting takes in-game time, so plan your farm activities accordingly!
