Just buy from official retailers or the Pokemon website. Why risk it?

Easiest way to tell? Check the card texture and color. Real cards have a distinct smooth feel and vibrant colors. Fakes often feel flimsy and the colors look dull. Also, look at the card border - real Pokemon cards have clean, consistent borders. If the border is uneven or too thick, it might be a fake. Lastly, the font used for card text can be a giveaway. Misaligned text or incorrect font types are red flags!

The holographic pattern on a real Pokemon card is pretty hard to counterfeit accurately. If the holo looks off, it's probably a fake.

Experienced collector here: weigh them! Real Pokemon cards have a specific weight due to the quality of the paper. Fakes are often lighter or heavier. Not the most practical method if you don't have a scale handy, but it's worked for me.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
