First things first, to spot a first edition Japanese Pokemon card, look for the 'Edition 1' symbol. This is usually a small '1' inside a circle located directly below the Pokemon illustration on the left side. No symbol, no first edition status. Also, keep in mind the texture and color of the card can sometimes give it away since older cards might have a different feel or hue compared to the newer prints.

Just flip the card over and check the bottom corner! If you see a little '1' in a circle, congrats, you've got a first edition. But honestly, it's all about that symbol, no symbol means it's not a first ed.

Honestly, looking for first edition Japanese Pokemon cards is overrated. The joy's in the game, not just the collectibles!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
