First off, check the bottom of your card. You're looking for a little symbol near the copyright info; that's your set symbol, and it's your first clue about its generation. Different generations have unique symbols. Another pro tip: look up the card number and compare it to a database or list online. Generations have different numbers of cards, so this can help narrow it down.

Honestly, just Google the card name and number. Most of the time, you'll hit a database that tells you exactly which generation it's from. Saves you the detective work!

The easiest way is to recognize the art style and card layout. Older generations have a distinct look compared to the newer ones. Plus, each generation has its iconic cards that most fans can spot from a mile away.

Don't overthink it. If the card looks super old and the design seems like it's from the 90s, it's probably first or second generation. The newer ones look, well, newer and snazzier.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
