To spot a fake shiny Pokemon card, start by comparing it to the real deal if you have one. Look for discrepancies in color and texture. Real cards have a consistent and high-quality finish, while fakes might feel cheaper or have a glossy or matte finish that doesn't match the original. Check the card's edges too—real cards have smooth, clean cuts.

One quick tip: hold the card up to a light. If it's real, you shouldn't be able to see through it. Fake cards often use thinner, low-quality material that lets some light pass through. Also, the holographic pattern on a genuine shiny card should be detailed and vivid, whereas on a fake, it might look dull or poorly printed.

Real talk, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Got a shiny Charizard for a couple bucks off a sketchy site? Hate to break it to ya, but that's almost definitely a fake. Always buy from reputable sellers or directly from the official Pokemon website to avoid getting scammed.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
