Take it from me, after countless attempts: you can't transfer Xbox Live Gold directly. Just use the 'Home Xbox' feature to share the perks!

It's impossible to transfer Xbox Live Gold to another account. Just buy a new membership for the other account.

Officially, you can't transfer Xbox Live Gold memberships between accounts. Instead, you can set up your console as the 'Home Xbox' for the account with Gold, so all users on that console can share the subscription.
