Build a series of connected bases along the route and use carts to move the ores from one base to the next. Just beware of Trolls and other nasties!

Craft a Karve or Longship and load it up! Since you can't teleport ores, using a boat is your best bet for transporting them across water.

Just don't. Leave it where it is until you can craft what you need on-site. Saves a lot of hassle.
