Go to the Facebook app, tap the menu icon, select 'Settings & Privacy,' then 'Settings,' and finally 'Active Status' to toggle it off. Easy peasy!
On your desktop, click on the chat sidebar, hit the gear icon, and switch off 'Active Status' to go incognito.
