Go to Settings > Accessibility > Captions mode > Off. Piece of cake!
Frankly, just disable captions in the streaming app directly if you're having trouble. Sometimes, easier that way.
I had to turn mine off recently. Hit the Home button on your remote, go to Settings > Accessibility > Captions mode > Off, and boom!
