Desktop user here! Hit the drop-down arrow at the top right, go to 'Settings & Privacy', then 'Settings', and find the 'Sounds' section under 'Notifications'. Turn 'em off!

Easy peasy! Just go to 'Settings & Privacy' > 'Settings' > 'Media' and toggle off 'Autoplay Videos with Sound'.
On the app? Click the three lines (hamburger menu), scroll to 'Settings & Privacy', then 'Settings', and find 'Media and Contacts'. Turn off 'Sounds in the app'.
Overheard my own video in a meeting once. Now, I always mute sounds in the 'Settings & Privacy' under 'Media'.
