You need to find and mine copper ore with a pickaxe, then smelt it in a smelter to get copper bars. After that, you'll unlock copper tools to craft at the forge. Happy mining!

I just started melting some copper and boom, forge recipes appeared. Just make sure you've got the right tools and build that smelter!
