To unlock the Heat Knife in Subnautica, you need to find the Modification Station fragments and scan them to get the blueprint. Then you can craft it at the Modification Station once you have the Thermoblade blueprint and a regular Survival Knife!
First, find and scan Modification Station fragments. Second, build the station. Third, upgrade your Survival Knife to a Thermoblade. Simple, right?
