The quickest way is connecting to Xbox Live. If for some reason you can't go online, download the update from the Xbox website, put it on a USB stick, and plug it into your console. The update will start automatically.

Easy peasy! Just connect your Xbox 360 to the internet, and it will prompt you to update the system software if an update is available. Follow the onscreen instructions, and voila, you're updated!

I’ve been through this! Connect your Xbox 360 to your Wi-Fi, go to Settings > System > Console Settings > System Info. It should check for updates automatically if you're online.
