To upgrade your fishing rod in Stardew Valley, you can't just tweak the one you start with. Instead, you unlock better rods by increasing your fishing skill and purchasing them from Willy's Fish Shop on the beach. Once you hit Fishing Level 2, Willy will send you a letter saying he's got new rods available. The first upgrade is the Fiberglass Rod, which lets you use bait. Keep leveling up, and eventually, you'll unlock the Iridium Rod, which allows for both bait and tackles, maximizing your fishing potential!

Short and sweet – just keep fishing and leveling up! Willy sells all the upgrades. You can't modify rods; you buy better versions.

Honestly, don't stress too much about the rod at first. Focus on improving your fishing skill by, well, fishing a lot. Each new rod becomes a game-changer, especially the Iridium Rod. It totally transformed my fishing game.

If you're a Stardew Valley player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

That includes gift cards from all of your favorite gaming platforms, like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam and more... which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
