How to use the Media Player in GTA 5
Using the media player in GTA 5 is all about vibe and drive. First thing, you gotta hop into a car, any car. Next, hit the quick menu button – that’s the M key on PC, hold the touchpad on PS, or the view button on Xbox. Scroll down until you see 'Media Player', and select it. Now you can blast those custom tracks you've been dying to cruise to in Los Santos. Make sure you've added your tunes to the game's user music folder first to really get the party rolling!

Short answer - you can't really. The Media Player per se isn't a standalone feature in GTA 5 like it's in GTA Online with the Los Santos Tuners update. In GTA 5, you're kinda stuck with the game's radio stations. But hey, they've got some bangers, so not all is lost!
I've spent hours cruisin' around in GTA 5, and here's the thing: you're mixing things up. GTA 5 itself doesn't have a 'Media Player' feature for your own music. That’s more of a GTA Online thing post-Los Santos Tuners update. But, you can still play your own music through the 'Self Radio' option by dropping your tunes into the User Music folder in your documents. Then, flick through the radio stations in-game until you hit Self Radio. Not exactly a media player, but it gets the job done!
