Just farm RC cells and use them in 'Stats' to upgrade. Simple!
Basically, you farm RC cells by defeating NPCs or players. Then you head into the menu and distribute those points to boost your Kagune or Quinque skills.
From my experience, you need to defeat enemies to collect RC cells and then allocate them in the stats menu to get stronger. It's like the secret sauce for power!
