Sword Art Online and Ready Player One both involve virtual realities, but they’re totally separate works with different origins.

Nope, Sword Art Online is based on a light novel series by Reki Kawahara, not Ready Player One.

Funny enough, SAO came out first! It started as a light novel in 2009, while Ready Player One hit shelves in 2011.

As someone who’s read both, I can tell you they’re distinct stories. SAO involves life-and-death stakes in VR, whereas Ready Player One focuses more on a treasure hunt in a dystopian future.

If you're a Sword Art Online fan, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Crunchyroll gift card, which you can win and use to stream anything you want essentially for free!

In case you're wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying ads) and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
