Definitely sword. You get cool abilities and can hit enemies from a distance. Plus, swords just look cooler!
Naw, melee all the way. Faster attacks and better for close combat. You'll level up quicker with melee.
From my experience, swords are better for bosses and tough enemies because of the range. But if you're farming, melee might be more efficient.
